If you watch enough film, you start to see patterns emerge.
Certain player and team tendencies, common actions from team to team, good and bad habits, certain domino concepts.
One of those is when the ball is entered into the post.
Some coaches just leave what happens when the ball is thrown into the post to chance; some are very intentional.
