20+ Princeton Point Series Quick Hitters
Even if you don't run the Princeton Offense, these quick hitters could be added to your offensive scheme
What I love about the Princeton Offense is:
you can run the whole thing as your entire offense
you can run parts of the offense (Point, Chin, etc.) as your entire offense
you can pick your favorite parts of the offense and cater them to your team and have a few solid quick hitters
regardless of what you do, it can flow into drive and kick, dribble drive, “just go play”, conceptual basketball
Before we dive into these sets that can be run from the Point Series, let’s quickly talk about Princeton Point Action and what it is.
This has been covered several times on the internet/Twitter and can be looked up pretty quickly (and has several variations), but just to have it in one place and to keep it super simple - here you go:
So, with the basic information above, even if you don’t primarily run Princeton, we can start adding variety into Princeton sets to:
keep the defense off balance
make them pay for cheating
add wrinkles the second time around
exploit matchups/get shots we want
fit our particular personnel
What you do AFTER the play has broken down and/or you don’t get the look that you want is up to you as a coach - some coaches like to run more Princeton flow/continuity, some like to go to a ball screen, some like to go to drive and kick.
I’ve compiled over 20 counters, quick hitters, reads, and actions from the Princeton Point Series.
It’s not an extensive list of the reads and variations of plays that exist, but it’s a good start.
