Today, we’re going to look at a few ideas on flowing directly from your transition offense into your base offense.
This concept can probably be adapted for any type of offense with some creativity, but we’re going to look at some popular offenses that you might flow into.
First, some definitions to make sure we are on the same page:
transition offense = where your players are going when the ball changes possession (“Where do we go when we get the ball?) - these are typically spots on the floor
base offense = what you run offensively (could be 5 Out, Dribble Drive, Princeton, Continuity Ball Screen, etc.)
flow = without pulling the ball out or calling a set play, going straight into our base offense from transition without a hitch or pause
One final quick note before we look at a few diagrams:
YOU CAN BE CREATIVE AS A COACH AND MAKE IT WORK FOR YOUR OFFENSE
Regardless of what you run (even if it’s freelance pass/cut/screen), you can tailor your transition offense to flow into your concepts, patterns, or sets
Okay, onto the diagrams…
Dribble Drive
Princeton
Continuity Ball Screen
Flex
5 Out
What are some other offenses that can flow?
