Hoops Companion - Create Your Coaching Portfolio
A practical and applicable way to improve as a coach, better your program, and land a job
Coaches - the April Cohort for the Hoops Companion course “Creating Your Coaching Portfolio” is coming to a conclusion.
On May 3rd, we will be offering our 3rd session of the year.
This course takes you STEP BY STEP through the process creating a finished product - a PDF, guidebook, notebook, digital portfolio, and/or website that will your display your coaching philosophy and allow you to:
hand out to a prospective employer/interviewer to create a positive impression when trying to get a job
have a document to guide and align your coaching staff/feeder program as a point of reference to your philosophy
provide access for your players to your philosophy so they truly understand what you want them to accomplish/what is valuable to the team and program
have something for yourself as a growing/evolving document that you adapt as you change as a coach
My personal coaching portfolio has wowed several interviewing committees, provoked additional questions, provided a sense of expertise, showed my knowledge of the game when I may not have had as much experience as other job candidates, and helped me land a few jobs.
I can walk you through how to complete a similar document AND the objections that will be raised by the presentation of this document.
This is a document that can help you land a job, explain your philosophy, or just carry with you to adapt as you evolve as a coach.
It’s an invaluable resource as a coach.
What will it cover?
Everything from offensive philosophy, defensive philosophy, program promotion, feeder program development, coaching staff alignment, references and recommendations, off-season plans, skill development, teaching style, AAU and community involvement, calendars, culture decisions, letters to parents, etc.).
This is 100% comprehensive.
We’ve already had 11 coaches go through the cohort with positive experiences.
These coaches are now equipped with a tool that has centered their philosophy, forced them to prune the things they don’t need, and helped them to focus on what really matters in their programs.
You’ll be put in a cohort to bounce ideas off each other, hold each other accountable, and build your own portfolio. You’ll have your own community/group chat (and me) to work through developing a portfolio of anywhere between 25-75 pages of content that details, simplifies, and hones in on what you believe as a coach.
Once you “graduate”, you’ll be a part of an alumni chat group, have access to all documents created by yourself (and other participants), and a bank full of information from different coaches that you can steal as you develop your own philosophy.
You’ll be able to articulate your coaching philosophy, offensive philosophy, defensive philosophy, program philosophy, provide references and articles, create a resume, etc.
Maybe you’re an assistant coach looking to get a head coaching job elsewhere.
Maybe you’re an AAU coach who wants more purpose in your program.
Maybe you’re a middle school girls coach just starting out who is clueless about what they’re doing and jumped into coaching to help your daughter and her friends.
Maybe you’re a seasoned veteran coach who wants to simplify and better communicate what their plans are for their program.
This is open to ALL coaches at ALL levels.
The cost for the cohort is $35.
Once you fill out to the Form and are accepted by Hoops Companion, I’ll send you information on payment options.
There are 8 email sessions/assignments and you’ll be finished by the end of May.
And you’ll have 100% access to me (I’ll even give you my cell to text me).
This will change the way you view your coaching.
You must be all in. It will take work. Do not sign up if you can’t commit to taking an extensive look at your coaching style, why you do the things you do, etc.
