Nutritional Resources for Athletes
A few links to help you fuel your athletes this season...and in the off-season
I’ve been seeing a lot of information popping up in the coaching world around lately centered on nutrition, fueling athletes, and recovery.
This is an often underused tool for coaches, teams, and programs - particularly on the high school level or in smaller schools.
However, this is one of those little things that can potentially give your team an edge and serious advantage over opponents.
Twitter is full of them, but here are a few resources (I’ve provided a tweet that gives a glimpse into what they do, but give their accounts a look for some good stuff):
Note: you don’t need a Twitter account to access or view these!
Wendi Irlbeck's Twitter Account
Irlbeck provides a lot of graphics that help summarize and simplify her thoughts on nutrition for athletes - and she knows what she’s talking about.
Coach Aldred is the Strength and Conditioning Coach at Furman University. He consistently posts valuable and pertinent information for coaches and leaders of programs.
From the University of North Texas, this account gives you an inside look at how a college operates in regards to nutrition, recovery, and strength/conditioning.
Bishop is the Director of Sports Performance at Houston and posts a lot of information on strength development…and lots of pictures of what they feed their athletes at Houston.
This is more of a strength and conditioning account, but there’s still a ton of valuable information here.
