Here are a few of my favorite shooting drills/challenges that I’ve used -> SHOOTING CHALLENGES
Obviously, as a coach, you have the autonomy to shift and adapt them to what works for you.
Most can be measured by time and/or score.
Using Shooting Challenges and making them standardized (only one rebounder allowed, always a 3 minute drill, etc.) allows for your players to compete against themselves and their teammates.
I’ll have our guys bring their scores back to me and then post them online/in the group chat so they can see where they rank. Recording their scores also allows you to justify what you deem as a good/bad shot for players.
One final tip - make sure you randomly count players some days - especially if you are suspicious of numbers they are reporting. Some guys want to compete, but might be tempted to cheat to keep up with their peers/teammates and earn praise from the coaching staff. Keep a look out for this.
Happy shooting!
